Welcome to the official website of Abdurahiman Nagar Grama Panchayat.
History of Grama Panchayat

Abdurahiman Nagar Grama Panchayat comprises the areas of Mamburam, Koduwayur (A.R. Nagar), and Pukayur amsoms. This land gave birth to freedom fighters such as V.A. Ahmed Azad, who worked tirelessly to name this Grama Panchayat after Muhammad Abdurahiman Sahib, a forefront leader of the Indian independence movement.

The religious harmony of this village is echoed by the historic Mamburam Makham—the resting place of Mamburam Thangal, who led and mobilized the public against foreign colonial rule—and the ancient, historically significant Koduwayur Subramanya Temple.

Formed in 1962, the election for the first governing body of this Panchayat was held on December 4, 1963. It was a seven-member council led by V.A. Azad Sahib, the architect of the Grama Panchayat. Currently, a 24-member governing body headed by Laila Pulluni (President), who assumed office on December 21, 2025, administers the Panchayat.

In the early days, this village served as a major collection and trading hub for hill produce and spices, relied upon even by neighbouring areas for buying and selling goods. However, with people moving away from the agricultural sector and commercialization becoming an integral part of life, the agricultural market has turned completely inactive. The absence of a central public market has severely affected the revenue sources of both the Panchayat and the general public
